Welcome to this week's episode of Mind Power Meets Mystic.
Cinthia Varkevisser has the week off.
I'm Michelle Walters and I am the Mind Power part of the Mind Power Meets Mystic equation.
Today we are doing something a little different.
We are going to talk about my book.
We have been talking about my book and alignment of spirit, finding work you love for a while, And I have a new friend who read the book and who thought it was great.
And so I thought, "Oh, I should get this guy on the podcast.
" So I'd like everybody to welcome my friend, Marc.
Hi, Marc.
Say hi, Marc.
Hello.
And we are going to ask Marc a few questions about what did he think about the book.
So as I think many of our listeners know, I wrote this book to help people, particularly people who were out of work and looking to figure out how to use their spirit side to make one to get a job.
But Marc, you want to tell us just in a nutshell a couple of things about yourself?
Because I don't think you were looking to get a job when I had to do this book.
No, I was not.
But I was interested in the subject matter because I'm in a spiritual journey and kind in the self-reflective mode have been, you know, single for two years and I was kind of searching for the right thing in my life and I'm more introspective, I guess.
And the alignment of spirit, I thought that's what caught my eye and caught my attention.
It was the application for finding a job was less important at the time.
But anyway, that was all about.
But I'm a banker, so I deal with risk and mitigation and dealing with, you know, those kinds of things with for commercial real estate projects or existing buildings.
And I typically deal with the higher risk credits.
And anyway, it's just, anyway, I was disillusioned because for me, I've been in this role and it doesn't optimize all my talents, which is attracting new business, working with clients in difficult situations, all that stuff was, you know, something I really had a passion for.
And this was more my role for the last four years were just not as aligned with what I wanted to do.
So for me, it's, it's, it's more of a, the, the, the job aspect was, it was interesting, but the alignment of spirit was just a way for me to kind of figure out how to, just to process it within my mind on what to do.
And so.
.
.
>> So I have a question for you, Marc.
My question is, so you weren't really looking for a job, but you are kind of at a moment of trying to grow spiritually.
And as you read the book, What did you like about it?
What do you think people who.
.
.
what kind of person would like this book?
Well, I think anybody who is struggling with any kind of issue in their life would love this book.
And the reason for that is that it's designed to help you go through the journey of figuring out what you want and how to manifest it down the road.
And so it's not.
.
.
the subject matter of finding a job was intriguing for me too, because I was kind of struggling with what I wanted to do in my job, but, you know, for a living.
And, uh, and this was more in line with my, um, it, it, it has the common theme of, of, of identifying the issues.
What is, what is, what, what is important to you and what is your passion and what, and how to get to where you want to be and setting up the goals and, uh, setting up a reason, a target as to what you want to achieve.
And for me, the manifestation part was real key for me.
What I realized is that I actually like what I do.
I just had to have a better attitude at it because I was a little frustrated about things.
But my alignment was, you know, I made the best of what I'm dealing with now because I do have an objective at some future point to change.
But it made my existing assessment of what I'm doing much more enriching because I was able to identify really what I really was looking for and what I wanted.
And a lot of it was just my own realignment of what I wanted, you know.
So this alignment of spirit was just, I think, helped me really to do that.
And it wasn't really about the job search because I already had a job.
It was just more about liking better what I'm doing.
And really- I think that's great.
And I think that's really helpful for people to hear because when I wrote the book, I figured, "Well, hey, this is kind of cool.
I'm going to write it about getting a job because I've done this over and over and over again, and it made sense to me.
And it's nice to hear that that wasn't even really why you were tracking with the book or following along that kind of a thing, that it was really helpful just to think about more in terms of like, "Hey, what is it I want in life?
What do I got to do to line that up and make that happen?
" So in the book, I talk about a few different things.
I talk about releasing and creating and thinking and receiving.
Did you have, I like to ask people if they had any of those steps that really stood out as their favorite step?
Was there anything that you liked in those four steps that, that you think meant something particularly to you?
Well, I'm a creative person.
So for me, I, in any job I ever had, the creative part was always trying to figure out how to attract a new client or try to put together a product that they would love and they would want to do business with me.
So that was helpful.
But the, the release part was real key for me because the thing is, is that I had to release my prior role, which is what I really liked to do.
And that was four years ago when I was managing, you know, a long production group for commercial real estate.
And, and, and be, you know, least that part of my thought process in terms of going forward into what I'm doing now, which is fine.
You know, I had to be accepting and be grateful for what I'm doing.
You know, that's the key, you know, and that's what I am.
I'm very grateful.
That's what, you know, I just was happier when I was reading this book because even objective was to get a job.
It's about an objective of any kind to go through this process.
And that's why I think this book is, you can use it for about anything in your life that you're going through.
It really is.
Seeking the job side is just to help you figure out how to do, how to actuate and get to that end point.
And so it could be about anything, you know, A dream vacation.
Whatever it is.
Whatever.
Whatever it is, because it really get, it teaches you the process to get to that point.
And that that's what was so meaningful for that.
One of the things that was important to me as I put together the book was to include a lot of other books that I'd read from other places and science and studies like that.
How did you find that that wove into the book?
Was that helpful in terms of sort of supporting the direction I was going?
Was that?
>> Yeah.
It's funny that you asked that question because the thing is in many of the quotes that I had in the book or from books I've read in the past.
So it's kind of like Stephen Covey and all these things, that just coming to mind.
But what I'm getting at is that I was just, It just helped support and brought back those books in my head when I was reading your book.
So it was kind of like it helps to be well-read just for any reason.
But the point was, is that it was an enhancing mechanism for me to verify and also to keep my mind stimulated through some of the, you know, towards the main objective of understanding what this journey was all about through this book.
>> So it sort of reminded you of some of the things you'd read before and strung them together in a way that supported the thesis of the book.
>> Yes.
>> Yeah.
Is there anything else you want to share with our listeners about an alignment of spirit?
Like go out and buy it?
>> I highly recommend it.
I just thought it was a great journey.
The funny thing is that I was reading it, you know, sections at a time or chapters at a time.
And I would put it down and I would think about it for a couple of days and I would then pick it up again and just kept going forward.
But I felt the longer I was reading it, the better it was for me because it took a while to kind of go through the changes in my mind and how to think about things.
And so to me, I think it's a great journey to go through.
It's a journey.
It helps you guide through a journey to actualization of something.
And for me, it was just to, uh, the alignment of spirit was, it was helpful in many levels for me, but it was just, it was helpful to me in terms of what I was dealing with at the time.
And, uh, helped me get to a center, uh, because I was, I was off center for, uh, you know, you know, a number of years, going through some challenging relationships and things of that nature.
and we don't have time to go through here.
But what I'm getting at is that it really helped me center.
And meaning center means I feel like I'm balanced.
I'm not thinking about anything negative about the past and all that.
I'm just looking towards the future and I think I have a way to do it.
And that's why I think this book should be taken by anybody.
I read by anybody and I think it's a good resource.
Really good.
Well, thank you very much, Marc.
I appreciate you being on our podcast, and I appreciate you for being a reader of my book and for taking so much time with it.
I think you really manage to squeeze every ounce of goodness out of that book, and it is.
I'm proud of it.
